One of my earliest workshop in 2011 was in crystals – more specifically how to use them to heal ourselves. This opened up a whole new world for me as I had no idea at the time that they could be used in this way.
There were 2 workshops split over 3 days.
I knew I was in for something special when as soon as I walked into the room on the first day BAM instant massive headache! I had to apologise to the facilitator as I felt very ill. A few others also spoke up and said the same thing. The teacher gave each of us a chunk of black tourmaline and within 5 mins we were all fine. She explained that our headaches were a result of the huge number of crystals that she had in her place and it was a common side effect when one gets exposed to so much crystal energy if you aren’t used to it.
After that we made it through day 1 without any more issues. The first day was an introduction to crystals themselves – their qualities, properties, caring for them, how to choose the right one.
The second workshop focused on using crystals to heal chakras.
What I learnt about crystals that day
During the workshop we were partnered up and took turns to treat each other. Each ‘therapist’ had 60min to treat their ‘client’ using the skills and knowledge we had learnt in the workshop. I found that I responded really well to crystals.
In fact, I was astonished by the results because I felt amazing after the session. The course taught us how to use a pendulum to determine which chakras needed work, and how to bring balance back into the body using crystals.
A number of people in the group reported that the crystals became:
- very hot or cold during the session,
- very heavy and almost felt like they were burrowing into their bodies
- restless and moved, refusing to stay still.
Our teacher told us about an incident where a crystal flung itself across the room on its own accord mid way through a treatment.
When you know their language and how to work with them you’ll find they have personalities of their own.
And since then….
Since doing the crystal workshops I’ve amassed my own extensive collection and think of them as my children. I sense their energy and am continually surprised by what they can do.
Our teacher warned us that they may:
- disappear and reappear
- go for a wonder
- vibrate and travel if they need to
All in an effort to make sure they get to the right person who needs them. And it’s true – I’ve experienced these things many times.
Even today, when I enter a place that has a lot of crystals I tend to feel a bit hot after a while – at least I don’t get a headache anymore. I visit crystal wholesale places to buy my stock. They are enormous warehouses filled with everything from tiny tumbles to large 2 – 3 mt tall specimens. I’ve spoken to a number of the owners and they tell me that they roster staff on alternating days because they get effected by the enormous amounts of energy present.
More than meets the eye
I think its easy for us to dismiss them as just pretty rocks, after all they have no eyes , ears or mouth and they just sit there. But this is from our own perspective – we live in a world that moves at a fast pace. For crystals, life moves at a slower pace (it would if it took you a 1000 years to grow one inch) so to us they appear stationary when in fact they have a lot going on under the surface.
For anyone new to crystals as I was – trust me, they are more powerful than you know. As a bit of a tech nerd I knew of their use in technology such as watches, computers and bar code scanners. I never made the connection that their ability to carry energy could be used to improve our own wellbeing.
My recommendation is that if you enjoy crystals for their beauty – do yourself a favour and explore their healing properties. Learn how to harness their power by befriending them and taking care of them properly. It’s not just a simple case of buying them from a shop and using them.
So in the same way that a bug with a 80 day life cycle might seem to have an impossibly fast life compared to our 80 year life cycle, a crystal with an 8000 year cycle is impossibly slow for us to understand. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t alive.
